We’ll head outside to dive more deeply into prescribed fire and cultural burning in the field. Starting with an introduction to the land from a native Pomo perspective, we’ll learn about some culturally important plants and their relationship to fire, and visit the site of a recent burn to see how the plants are responding to fire. After lunch we will head out onto US Forest Service land in the Upper Lake District and walk a few prescribed burn units to learn about the efficacy of different fuels treatments.

DATE & TIME : March 15, 8:30am - 4:30pm; bring a brown bag lunch

MEETING LOCATION : Robinson Rancheria Environmental Department

ADDRESS : 1645 State Highway 20 - Nice CA 95464
